Leesburg Breaks Ground on Key Parkway

WTOP Radio reports that ground has been broken on a key stretch of the Battlefield Parkway, a small two-bridge connector in Leesburg, that will uncork one of the region?s bottlenecks for thousands of commuters. Connecting Route 7 to Kincaid Boulevard, the $35 million upgrade will divert heavy traffic coming out of West Virginia and Maryland away from the Route 15 bypass. The extension will be less than one mile, four lanes wide, and will be built with local, state and federal funds. The project is expected to be completed in late 2009.
