Gloucester Parkway Extension is Now Open

Leesburg Today reports that members of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors joined residents of Ashby Ponds and representatives from Erickson Retirement Communities to celebrate the opening of the extension of Gloucester Parkway connecting Ashburn Village Road to Loudoun County Parkway Tuesday afternoon.

Supervisor Lori Waters (R-Broad Run) addressed the audience, thanking Erickson for funding and managing the project, which supervisors hope will help alleviate congestion on Waxpool Road. The intersection of Waxpool Road and Loudoun County Parkway was named the most dangerous intersection in the county by a recent report released this week by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

  1. I wish they would extend Glouchester out to 28 now. All we need is more veins of traffic coming from 28.

28 to Waxpool is a nightmare.

  2. They plan to expand Gloucester to Nokes Boulevard, right now they are completing the interchange at 28 near the Lowes.

  3. Expansion to 28 from glouster is very much needed to relieve congestion on waxpool rd.

  4. What is also needed is a connection from 606 (Ox Road) out to Broadlands, to aleviate some of the traffic that comes north on Loudoun County Parkway to Waxpool.

  5. I strongly believe that the two connections you guys are talking about would end the waxpool traffic problem:

    1. Loudoun County Pkwy to Old Ox
    2. Gloucester to Nokes

I'm not loaded, but I'd love to have the chance to contribute money or anything else that could help get these connections made.

  6. The traffic sign on 28 with the flashing lights when congested for the waxpool interchange is some pretty good technology. Talk about advancing road traffic!

  7. I agree with all of the previous comments. I would also add that a ramp or ramps are needed to separate traffic comming off of the Greenway onto 28 from traffic trying to get onto 267 from 28 - it's a mess right now!
