Just a reminder from public safety officials... the downtown Leesburg area on King Street from Battlefield Parkway to Catoctin Circle, and also surrounding side streets from Wirt Street to Church Street is closed this morning (starting at 9:45 a.m.) for a special event -- the Leesburg July 4 holiday parade, which starts at Ida Lee Park, travels down King Street and concludes at Fairfax Street.

Also, be aware of the fireworks and the “Celebration in the Park” this evening in Leesburg. The celebration starts at 6 p.m. when the gates open at Ida Lee Park; the fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.

Be aware that traffic will be congested in the areas of the parade and the celebration/fireworks. Use caution, drive carefully and obey the instructions of public safety officials.
