America's 9/11 Ride to Pass Through Loudoun County Tomorrow

America’s 9/11 Foundation Inc.’s annual commemorative motorcycle ride in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks will pass through Loudoun County tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 16. The bikers, on their way from Somerset, Penn. to the World Trade Center, are expected to drive through Leesburg around 2 p.m. and then Ashburn shortly thereafter tomorrow afternoon.

Patch reports that the motorcycle procession will travel through downtown Leesburg along King Street before heading to the Route 7/15 Bypass and the Dulles Greenway.

During the event, King Street will be closed to traffic, including intersections crossing the road; neither vehicles nor pedestrians will be permitted on the road until the procession has passed.  Road closures are expected to last 20-25 minutes.

Spectators who wish to watch and cheer are encouraged to arrive in downtown Leesburg not later than 1:30 p.m. Pedestrians also commonly gather at overpasses along the Greenway to wave at the procession.

The complete itinerary can be found online.
