Loudoun County is seeking public comment on draft bus schedules for weekday service to the Silver Line Metrorail stations.
Loudoun County Transit will begin the new service in early 2014. Buses will depart from park & ride locations in Loudoun County and transport passengers to Wiehle-Reston East or Spring Hill Metrorail stations in the morning. Buses will return from the Silver Line Metrorail stations to Loudoun County in the afternoon and early evening.
The draft schedules may be viewed online at www.loudoun.gov/silverlinebuses. Copies of the draft schedules also may be requested by calling 703-771-5665.
Comments concerning the draft schedules may be e-mailed to rideshare@loudoun.gov with the subject line "Buses to the Silver Line." Alternatively, comments may be directed to: County of Loudoun, Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure, 1 Harrison St., S.E., 4th Floor, MSC 69, Leesburg, VA 20175.
Comments will be accepted through December 13, 2013.
The drafts also include changes for service departing from the Potomac Falls area to Metrorail stations and service between Metrorail stations and selected Loudoun employment centers. Additionally, the drafts address new service which will replace current Tysons Express schedules.
The draft schedules do not impact the existing commuter bus routes serving Rosslyn, the Pentagon, Crystal City and Washington, D.C., nor do the drafts address bus fares. Within the next few weeks, a fare study will be conducted by an independent contractor. Findings will be shared with the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, who ultimately approve passenger fares for LC Transit. The fares will be determined prior to the beginning of the new service to the Silver Line.
More information is available online at www.loudoun.gov/silverlinebuses or by calling the Department of Transportation & Capital Infrastructure at 703-771-5665.
