Public Input Session on Proposed Dulles Access Highway is Tonight at 7 p.m.

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors is seeking public comment on the proposed Dulles Air Cargo, Passenger and Metro Access Highway with a public input session at 7 p.m. tonight, Monday, June 2, in the auditorium of Briar Woods High School, 22525 Belmont Ridge Road in Ashburn.

At the meeting, representatives from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Loudoun County staff will make presentations on the project prior to the public comment period. The advanced sign-up period for meeting speakers has ended. Sign-ups will be taken at the meeting. Also, during the meeting, an audio recorder will be set up in a nearby area for those who wish to record their comments instead of addressing the Board in person. These comments will be transcribed and forwarded to the Board.

VDOT is conducting an environmental study to evaluate options for a limited-access roadway to the west of Dulles Airport and has stated that the purpose of the project is to enhance the movement of people, passenger services and air cargo traffic to the airport and the planned Phase 2 extension of the Metrorail Silver Line. The proposed road is intended to reduce congestion and improve capacity on the existing roadway network in the Dulles South area.

The Board of Supervisors is closely following the project and would like to hear from the public. In addition to the meeting on June 2, Loudoun County citizens may provide their comments to the Board by e-mail at bos@loudoun.gov; by calling the Citizen Comment Line, 703-777-0115; or by writing to the Board of Supervisors, P.O. Box 7000, Leesburg, VA 20177.
