Loudoun County continues to gear up for Bike to Work Day on May 20, with ongoing registration for the event and a bicycling information program scheduled for the Ashburn Library May 5.
Anyone interested in participating in the 2016 Bike to Work Day event scheduled for Friday, May 20, is encouraged to register by May 10, in order to receive a free T-shirt. Those who register ahead for the free event also will be eligible for a chance to win a bicycle and other prizes. New and experienced bicycle commuters are invited to register at www.biketoworkmetrodc.org or by calling 800-745-RIDE (800-745-7433).
Loudoun County hosts two local pit stops where registrants can pick-up their free T-shirts, receive giveaways, enjoy refreshments, and win prizes. All registrants will be entered into a regional bicycle raffle.
Also, the Ashburn Library will host a bicycling information program Thursday, May 5, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Staff from Loudoun County's Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure will discuss Bike to Work Day as well as trails, routes and bicycle-related projects, including planned bike connections to the new Metro stations in Loudoun. BikeLoudoun founder Pat Turner will be a featured speaker. The Ashburn Library is located at 43316 Hay Road in Ashburn.
