Study Emphasizes Benefits of Leaving Car at Home and Using Public Transit

A new study sponsored by organizations such as the Federal Highway Administration, the American Public Transportation Association and the Environmental Protection Agency, has found that increased transit service combined with operational efficiencies and land use development can reduce greenhouse gases by 24 percent. The study also found that the vehicle cost savings of these strategies exceed the cost of implementation by as much as $112 billion.
