Emergency Exercise This Morning At Dulles Airport May Affect Traffic

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority will conduct an emergency preparedness drill at Dulles International Airport today, Saturday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to about noon.

According to the Washington Post, the exercise will simulate an aircraft accident and test emergency operations at Dulles, while providing training for airport and emergency crews.

There will be numerous emergency vehicles operating at the southern end of the airport this morning and smoke may be visible. The Airport Authority notes that this is all part of the exercise.

Traffic may be affected so if you're going to be near the airport this morning, you may want to allow extra time.
