Three Vehicle Crash on Christmas Eve Takes Life of Second Victim

A three-vehicle crash on Route 9 on December 24, 2010, has taken the life of a second victim. 
 
Timothy D. Doane, 49, of Harpers Ferry, WV succumbed to injuries he sustained in the Christmas Eve crash. David Doane, 76, of Tennessee, also lost his life in his crash. A third motorist remains listed in critical condition at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.     
   
Around 3:30 p.m. on December 24, Loudoun County Sheriff deputies were called to the area of Route 9 just west of Creamer Lane for a report of a multiple vehicle crash.     
 
Members of the Loudoun County Sheriffs Office Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that George Radston, 58, of Ashburn, was driving eastbound in a Pontiac four-door when he lost control in a curve, crossed over the roadway centerline and struck a westbound 2010 Toyota Prius.  The Toyota was driven by Timothy D. Doane, 49, of Harpers Ferry, WV. After striking the Toyota, the Pontiac continued to roll, ejecting the driver from the car. The Pontiac also struck a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Lindsay Breece, 22, of Charles Town, WV, that was traveling westbound behind the Toyota.     
   
The driver of the Jetta and a passenger were wearing their seatbelts and received minor injuries. They were taken to the Cornwall Campus of INOVA Loudoun Hospital where they were treated and released.     
   
A passenger in the Toyota, David Doane, was airlifted to INOVA Fairfax Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Timothy Doane was also airlifted to INOVA Fairfax Hospital and remained hospitalized until today (January 4, 2011) when he passed away. Radston was also airlifted to INOVA Fairfax Hospital and remains in critical condition.     
 
Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff?s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate the crash.
