Update: Delays Cleared on Greenway

All travel lanes now reported open on Eastbound Dulles Greenway at Sycolin Road, however, the right shoulder remains blocked. Delays have cleared according to public safety officials.

If you were stuck in the traffic this morning, comment below. How bad was it?

  1. Took me an hour and a half to get to Fairfax from Leesburg at 07:30. Sycolin was bumper to bumper all the way from the Park & Ride lot to at least over the hill beyond Shreve Mill, and I suspect all the way to Belmont Ridge. I cut across Shreve Mill and down Evergreen Mills, which wasn't bad until near the intersection with Belmont Ridge, where it was mostly a slow crawl all the way from there down 50 to Chantilly.

  2. Got on toll road in Leesburg at around 7:10. Hit the brakes at Shreve Mill but couldn't get over fast enough to exit off. After about 15 minutes of not moving and seeing the medivac helicopter take off further down the road, I crossed the median and headed back to Battlefield and onto Sycolin. Google Maps told me the traffic on the Greenway cleared before Belmont Ridge Road so I hopped back on the Greenway there and it was smooth sailing till the usual backups a few miles before Rt 7 in Tysons. Took me 1hr 15mins from Leesburg to Tysons vs my typical 50 minute.
