Motorcycle Ridge to Pass Through Leesburg Tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 17

America's 9/11 Foundation, Inc. holds an annual commemorative motorcycle ride in remembrance of all who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 attacks, aftermath and recovery. Tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 17, the motorcycle procession will travel through Leesburg, coming down King Street through the historic downtown, before proceeding to the Route 7/15 Bypass and then on to the Dulles Greenway. The ride is expected to arrive in Leesburg at about 2 p.m., although this time is dependent upon traffic and weather.

King Street Closed
As the motorcycles proceed through town, King Street will be closed to traffic. In addition, King Street intersections will be closed to east-west cross traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian, until the procession has passed. Road closures are anticipated to be in effect for 20 to 25 minutes.

Watch the Ride
Spectators who wish to watch and cheer as the ride passes through the downtown are encouraged to arrive in downtown Leesburg not later than 1:30 p.m. Parking will be available in the Town Hall Parking Garage, at the Liberty Street Parking Lot (Liberty & Royal Streets) and at the Pennington Parking Lot (Church & North Streets). For safety reasons, spectators will not be allowed to hand any items (bottled water, flags, flowers, etc.) to the motorcycle riders. In addition, until the procession has passed by, spectators will not be able to cross King Street on foot.
