Three Children Playing in Driveway Struck by Vehicle

A 7-year-old and two other children were injured after they were struck by a teenager receiving a driving lesson from a parent Thursday evening.

The 15-year-old driver was traveling on Morven Woods Court in Ashburn, Virginia, around 6:45 p.m. when she appears to have mistakenly accelerated and jumped a curb onto a sidewalk where the three children were playing.

The children, who are ages 7, 8 and 10-years-old, were all transported to local hospitals. The 7-year-old was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital where she is being treated for life-threatening injuries. The two other children were taken to the Lansdowne Campus of Inova Hospital where they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
