Police will be able to pull over any motorist they see texting behind the wheel. If you are caught texting, the first violation will cost $125 and $250 for the second.
Since the new law now makes texting a primary offense, officers will not need another reason to stop drivers they see texting. The new law doesn't apply to drivers of emergency vehicles, stopped vehicles, use of factory-installed GPS devices, or the use of handheld devices to report an emergency.
