Sheriff's Office Advises of Possible Weekend Traffic Delays

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is advising residents of several events this weekend that may cause traffic delays in various areas of the county -- in addition to the "normal" Memorial Day weekend travel.

Saturday Events
On Saturday an event in Round Hill may cause increased traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The event includes a 5k race at 8 a.m., a parade at 9:30 a.m. and other activities. The roadways impacted include Loudoun Street, Main Street and Airmont Road.

Also on Saturday, an event in Lovettsville may cause delays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the area of the Town Square. Motorists should also be aware of pedestrian traffic in this area at Berlin Turnpike.

Motorists may also see increased traffic in the Cascades area including Algonkian Parkway, Whitewater Drive, Saulty Drive and Lowes Island Drive from 7:30-10:30 a.m.

Ashburn Farm will also see increased traffic from 3-10 p.m. in the area of Windmill Drive between Ashburn Farm Parkway and Thistlewood Court.

Monday Events
On Monday, a 5k and 10k race will take place in the One Loudoun area. Motorists should expect increased traffic in the area of Russell Branch Parkway, Marblehead Drive, Gloucester Parkway, Rainsboro Drive, Ashburn Village Boulevard and Exchange Street.

Also on Monday, a Memorial Day ceremony will be held in Sterling in the area of Sterling Boulevard and Holly Avenue from 10 a.m. to noon.

Motorists are asked to please be patient, drive safely and follow all law-enforcement direction.
