Express Lanes Will Maintain Normal Operations Tomorrow, March 16

Transurban, operator of the 495 and 95 Express Lanes in Virginia, released the following statement regarding WMATA's decision to close Metrorail tomorrow, Wednesday, March 16.

"We commend Metro on its decision to prioritize the safety of riders and staff above all.

In cooperation with the Virginia Department of Transportation, we will maintain standard operations on the 495 and 95 Express Lanes tomorrow to ensure we have free-flowing lanes for buses and HOV service.

With more than 600 daily bus trips and HOV usage exceeding 40 percent during peak periods on the 95 Express Lanes, it is critical we keep these lanes free flowing at all times as we encourage people to take the bus or carpool tomorrow.

Any excess revenue collected above an average workday toll will be donated to Northern Virginia Family Services which supports low income and vulnerable families and community safety initiatives in Northern Virginia."
