Loudoun County officials and other dignitaries gathered today to break ground for construction of the Route 7/Route 659 (Belmont Ridge Road) interchange and the widening of Belmont Ridge Road.
The Route 7/ Route 659 intersection is currently an at-grade intersection with traffic signals. The project will create a grade-separated interchange in accordance with the Countywide Transportation Plan. The project also includes approximately 1.4 miles of reconstruction of Belmont Ridge Road from two-lanes to a four-lane divided section from the interchange limits at Route 7 to Gloucester Parkway.
The total cost of the project is $81.875 million with funding coming from Loudoun County, the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration. The project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2018.
More information about the project is online at www.loudoun.gov/Route7-659.
